Youth Action Lab

One year project for young people from Moldova and Germany to foster sustainable change and reimagine their communities as centers of opportunity, creativity, environmental responsibility, and civic engagement.

Description

Youth Action for Resilient Communities 2025 empowers young people from Moldova and Germany to become agents of sustainable change. The project encourages participants to reimagine their (trans)local communities as spaces of opportunity, creativity, environmental change, and civic engagement.

At the heart of the program is a two-week participatory summer school in Chișinău and Hîrtop village, Moldova, where participants explore socio-ecological transformation and learn to use interdisciplinary approaches to tackle pressing community challenges.

By enabling exchange between participants from different countries within Moldova’s local context, the project fosters skill development, participatory practices, and translocal perspectives. It also equips youth to implement their own initiatives, advocate for community needs, and contribute to environmental sustainability and climate resilience - helping to build a more resilient and engaged society.

Goals and focus
  • Support young people in combining artistic and activist methods to shape their own initiatives.
  • Strengthen capacity to advocate for community needs and influence decision-making.
  • Contribute to environmental sustainability and climate resilience at the local and regional level.
  • Build connections between Moldova and Germany through peer exchange and collaboration.

What does the project include

The project begins with a two-week summer school and grassroots opportunity program in Moldova, offering participants an immersive learning experience that combines interactive workshops, peer exchange, and field visits to local initiatives.

Participants design and implement their own community-based activities with ongoing mentorship and guidance.

The outcomes of these initiatives are collectively documented in a joint publication, highlighting key lessons and success stories, and later presented to a wider audience through an online presentation that amplifies participants’ voices and encourages further collaboration.
